“Nothing in this world compares, to this island where it’s home. Where we laugh and know we’ll never be alone… because it’s Singapore”. If you haven’t yet heard this year’s National Day song, and all the brickbats it’s gotten for its fluffy lyrics which don’t necessarily reflect life in our island nation, that’s a little taste of what you can expect when 9 August arrives. But seriously, how many Singaporeans do you even see laughing on a daily basis, when we’re more likely to see an aunty tsk-ing and budging her way onto the bus, or someone complaining about his neighbour? *shakes head*
